Weapons and artillery of the spirit

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Ephesians 6:11-18

Today’s scriptures of focus are crucial aspects of our warfare as believers. That we have to keep on a totality of our arsenal in our spiritual war. Paul says that we must wear the full armor of God, which means it is possible to wear incomplete covering and we can be exposed and open to harm if we are not fully covered.

If you are not covered, you cannot stand. One of the reasons why we are often defeated in spiritual battles is because we were not adequately covered and the enemy will attack you in places where you are exposed and vulnerable.

These weapons are truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, our salvation, the word of God, prayer and supplication. Furthermore, the Apostle says we should be watchful with all perseverance and supplication.

Our devotional will not offer us enough time to cover how each of these weapons will effectively guard your life but as you begin to develop in them you will protect and fortify your life against demonic attacks.

What parts of your life are vulnerable and exposed?

Which battles in your life have you been focusing on in the flesh and not in the spirit?

As Paul mentions, are you watchful concerning your life with all perseverance and supplication, and are you watchful over other saints as well?
