Salvation into sonship

Week 1 Day 5, Salvation into sonship

Your salvation affirms your identity in Christ. A common misconception is that Jesus came to earth to die for us, on the contrary Jesus came to make sons. We are his brothers and he calls us brethren (Hebrews 2:11,) as sons of God. One of the key realisations that any Christian should have is the revelation that says “you are a child of God, and all things that belong to God are yours.” Sonship is not about gender, it is about the principle of inheritance. As a son you have access and rights into the promises of God and the fullness of who God is. It creates a sense of entitlement and the right to access. There is no door that is closed to you when it comes to the promises of God, he has given you full access to everything that is within him.

Sonship is not only a right to have things but an identity that determines your nature. Sons of God, act like God. In Genesis God says that all trees shall bear after their own kind. This law that God instituted remains even until now. Children of God show fruits of the Holy Spirit, they show the nature of God and they behave in a Godly way. Your greatest identity in the Kingdom of God is your sonship, not a title or a label. Most people aspire to be like Pastors, Apostles and Prophets, but God has already given you the greatest title of all; He calls you His own. You are his, and he is yours. He loves you and he approves of you as a son. You behave like your father, you are loved by your father, and you deserve everything that you father has prepared for you.

1 John 3:1-3

  • I am a child of God, I am entitled to every promise of God. I have received every promise under the covenant of His grace.
  • I have full access to health, wealth, joy, peace, life, abundance, and all things on earth and all things eternal. I have everything I need in Christ. Meditate on this scripture… (His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. NIV 2 Peter 1:3)
  • I am like my father in heaven. I show forth Godly fruits and seeds.
  • God approves of me, I do not need to behave in a certain way to be accepted by God, by my faith I have already received sonship.
