Sacrificial love – the power of service

Week 2 Day 5 SACRIFICIAL LOVE- THE POWER OF SERVICE

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave…” Love causes us to give, because the very nature of love has no room for selfish ambition. It is impossible to love and not give. Love produces fruits that prompt us to give, there must be evidence of exchange. We give something when we are in love, and this is evidenced by God himself. He loved so much that there was a necessity for him to give. Jesus asks Peter multiple times, “Do you love me?” and he instructs us to “feed my sheep,” because loving God demands that you feed/give others. Just as God was sacrificial and even as he continually gives to us, we receive the capacity to serve and give others through love.

Love is the changing force that causes us to cede what was beneficial to us, and give it to others. Love causes us to give what we care about most to people that need it more than we do. When the love of God begins to flow through your life, you release it to others and you give sacrificially to others. This is manifest through serving people, loving people, giving (time, money, care. Etc) and most importantly to share Christ with others. What you have received, you must also give to others. Then the love of God is at work in you, this is why the first book of John says you cannot love God and not love people, it is impossible! Make a commitment to be like Christ, to sacrifice who you are and what you have for others. Allow God to work through your life to extend the hand of grace to others, as you have received it. Be sacrificial! Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2

Confessions

Lord give us a heart for others, a selfless heart that loves others as you love them.

I make myself available as a selfless sacrifice, given to the causes of others. I release myself from selfish ambition into Christ-like attitudes

God works in me and through me, I am a vessel fit for His use to impact others

I surrender myself, yielded to the Lord and available to others through love
