This week was a tremendous week for Tiger Woods and the golf community. The legend won a US Open tournament in 2008 and the world celebrated him, but shortly after in 2009 he was involved in a car crash which started the imminent decline of his career and reputation. There were many accusations and admissions of infidelity which made the whole world turn to him and make him an endless joke. To make matters worse for him, he developed chronic back pain and this compromised his performance very badly. In 2013 he made various attempts to return with a few wins but it was also limited by his performance and the unforgiving nature of people. The video I showed you above is some of hundreds of clips from people who had officially counted him out and decided on his fate. Reading his story now after finally winning the 2019 US Open, I am reminded of the story of redemption.

The definition of redemption is the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt. We must be aware of what redemption means. People will never forget or forgive you when you make a mistake, the law will always judge you for PAST sins, the devil will always stand in accusation for your mistakes. The sins of our father Adam cost us everything, we lost everything. Our dominion, power, glory, relationship with God, health, and we lost it all. We even lost ourselves to sin but God in his mercy has made provision for the redemption. There is an escape! There is a redemptive plan! All that was lost in our debt has be taken back, the debt has been settled. You owe nothing to the law and you are deserving of better things. You are no longer accused and you are no longer at fault… The debt is settled!

Ephesians 1:7

Galatians 3:13

Isaiah 44:22

Psalm 111:9

I am the redeemed of the Lord, my debt has been washed away and my sins are no longer held against me.

I rid myself of the guilt of past sins and I declare myself guiltless; my past sins and transgressions are forgiven and my debt has been settled.

Jesus reversed the verdict of my fate, he reversed the judgement against my life and he rewrote my destiny through his precious blood. I

I have regained my life, destiny, health, peace…..
