Confirmed by the Holy Spirit

I cannot help but wonder at something that I have spoken of many times. If Jesus would not start ministry without the Holy Spirit first confirming Him as a son, how much more do we need Him to confirm our sonship? The scripture of focus is Romans 8. I love this scripture because Paul explains some deep insight into sonship. He teaches us that the Holy Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are the sons of God. This makes us heirs of God and equal partakers of with Christ. This doesn’t need to be complicated to understand. At a simple level the Holy Spirit verifies your sonship and he authenticates your relationship with God. Without the Holy Spirit we are strangers and servants to God, but the Holy Ghost becomes a seal or badge of confirmation of sonship.

What does this mean? This means that the Holy Spirit advocates for your sonship, he confirms who you are and that is a child. But then Paul says IF you are a child, then you automatically become an heir. This is exciting because being a son guarantees you an inheritance in God. This inheritance means that everything that Jesus owns or has also equally belongs to you. Signs and wonders, healing, peace, joy, love, anointing and divine power are all yours by right. They are not things you should ask for or request, they are rights and they are guaranteed, you are entitled to these things. The Holy Spirit becomes a turning point and a necessary enforcer to give you access to your inheritance.

Rom 8:14-17

Luke 3:22

Galatians 4:6

Hebrews 10:14-17

I am a child of God, the Holy spirit confirms my sonship and he advocates for me as a child.

I am an heir according to the promise of God through Christ Jesus. My sonship is valid and so I have every right to my inheritance in Christ.

Nothing is denied to me, all of God’s gifts and promises are mine as an inheritance.

I am a son, I am an equal partaker with Christ Jesus, my spirit is in agreement with the Holy Spirit that I am a son.
